They teach literature, grammar, reading comprehension and much more. The responsibilities of an English teacher vary depending upon the level of class he got to teach. Obviously, the salary package depends upon the responsibilities so assigned. The higher the lecture rate and responsibilities, the higher would be the salary.
English teachers at middle and secondary levels meet parents of the students and give updates on the student’s progress and what should be done to improve the skills of the students. This is an essential part of their job.
Essential qualifications to become an English teacher
Different qualification standards are required for different posts. There are some institutes which are very strict on qualification levels while others may prefer prior teaching experience.
At least, a bachelor degree is an essential requirement which must be fulfilled. For applying to college level English teaching jobs, one must have master’s degree. Some of the institutes offer additional programs with an option of distance learning which facilitates students to attain degrees without actually visiting the institute.
