printing of a photo or work of art on to a canvas. It is a mixture of modern
technology of digital photography and the traditional art. The combination of
the two is breath taking. Old paintings
are getting new life with this technology. Some of the traditional painters are
not happy about the technology as their priceless paintings would now be replicated
and sold at a lesser price. The claimed life of these prints is hundred years.
They can be treated as family heirloom. Decorating homes with art, which was once
a dream, is now affordable because of the canvas printing technology.
Every canvas print starts as a digital image which is then analyzed by
experts. Any digital camera can pick up a high resolution photograph which is
required to print it on to the canvas. It does not need any special kind of
equipment to shoot a photograph. The photo is then loaded on to a computer for
editing. Any changes required can be done before printing and verified with the
client. There are endless possibilities that can be incorporated while editing.
Finally the picture is printed on to the canvas of good quality and sealed to
protect it from deterioration. They have to be displayed on dry walls and in
cool places. There should be no direct sunlight.
Canvas prints can be used for decorating the home or gifted to a
friend or commemorate an event. The favorite photographs or scenes from nature
or a large collection of memories can be displayed by getting it printed on to
a canvas. The ink used in the inkjet printer is of very high quality and UV
protected so it lasts longer. It is the main reason for its toughness. The ink
makes the print vibrant, clear and crisp.
Once the printing is done it is sealed with UV protection layer which is
also water resistant. The canvas texture can change the whole look of the
print. There are a few precautions to preserve the canvas prints. The longevity
of any product is dependent on the care one takes about it. Careful handling
and following the care instructions can increase the life of the print.
The material can repel water; it does not mean that it is water proof.
The drops of water would roll down but when exposed for a longer period the material
would absorb the water. It should not be exposed to direct sun light. Clean it
with a soft brush to remove dust and other unwanted particles stuck to the
canvas. The accumulated dust can make the print dull. Make sure that the frame
on which the canvas print is stretched is acid free. Any acid would make the
print yellow and destroy the fabric. There are many canvas printing services. One
can order them online also.
