Now you might think you have a good cv. After all you spent hours typing
it out and refining it until it was just right. But think about it.
It's only a few sheets of paper. Is that really enough in this day and
age? How does that adequately showcase all the talents, skills and
experience you possess. Does that piece of paper show how great you are
at presenting? Does it contain magazine articles you wrote? No it
doesn't. Is is really such a good cv? Look around you. You're surrounded
by technology. Technology that we use everyday. Technology that can be
put to good use when it comes to job hunting.
Getting a job in today's competitive business world takes guts, determination and bit of imagination. By ditching the old school ideas of what's right and wrong and using an online resume instead you can give yourself a massive head start in terms of getting noticed. By showcasing your talents online you can draw on a range of technologies to show prospective employers what you are all about. Did you give a barnstorming presentation at the last company meeting? Put the slides up there alongside your details. Or if it was filmed then add the video. Did you write a great piece for an industry trade journal or magazine? If you did, then don't hide it away. The world has moved on. Why should recruitment be stuck in a time warp of old ideas and working methods? You have to sell yourself and paper is a limited medium for you to do this successfully.
