Eat me!
If youre overweight you might be concerned about putting even more weight on during your pregnancy. A concern that is real for most women, but one that is only necessary to worry about if you are already overweight. Of course, excessive weight gain is not healthy whatever your starting weight is.
When you are pregnant your body craves foods that will help your baby to grow, and generally these are going to be higher in fat than you would like them to be. You might begin to think that you need these foods if you are craving them, but your body only works on an instinctual level. You should be able to rationalise that you dont really need that whole pizza, because youve already eaten today, and because there will be plenty of food available tomorrow. Resisting cravings is especially hard when pregnant, especially if you already have trouble doing so. However, it is important to keep yourself healthy for your baby. Fad diets are not advisable, but eating healthily and getting some regular light exercise will help to prepare your body for labour, and also help you to shed some excess weight even whilst pregnant.
If you have a high BMI -in other words, anything over 30 - it can have implications for your pregnancy. This isnt always going to be the case, but it never hurts to be safer than necessary. Here at Innermost Secrets we can offer you a variety of pregnancy scans, and also a comprehensive antenatal care package. You will have direct emergency access to a consultant, and more pregnancy scans than on the NHS. Remember that you have control over your mind and body. Rationally you know what you need and how much, despite what your body is telling you. You are eating for one and a bit, not two.
